Industrial Visit for the Sciencepreneur Course of Science Education Class A Semester 6: Learning from the Production Process at Bandeng Juwana Elrina

The sixth-semester students of Science Education Class A, along with several students from the Kampus Merdeka program, conducted an industrial visit to the Bandeng Juwana Elrina factory. This activity, participated by 40 students and one accompanying lecturer, aimed to provide practical insights into the production process, product innovation, and sales strategies in a renowned local food industry in Semarang. This visit was organized as part of the Sciencepreneur course, designed to integrate scientific knowledge with entrepreneurial skills. Through this visit, students are expected to gain a deeper understanding of the operations of a large-scale industry, from production to distribution. Bandeng Juwana Elrina was chosen because it is one of the leading brands of milkfish, a famous souvenir from Semarang, making it highly relevant for students to learn about how the product is produced and marketed.

Upon arrival at the factory located at Jl. Pamularsih Raya No.70, Bongsari, West Semarang District, the participants were warmly welcomed by the management of Bandeng Juwana Elrina. The students were then invited to directly observe the production process of boneless milkfish and milkfish pempek, from raw material preparation, processing, to final product packaging. Not only did they observe, but the students were also given the opportunity to get hands-on experience in several production stages. This practical experience is highly valuable, especially for those interested in developing a business in the food sector. In addition to practical experience in the field, this visit also provided a better understanding of how a large industry is managed. Students learned about the importance of product innovation, quality management, and effective marketing strategies. All this knowledge is expected to be a valuable asset for them in developing their sciencepreneur skills in the future.

Several students expressed that this visit broadened their perspective on the challenges and opportunities in the food industry. "Seeing firsthand how boneless milkfish is produced made me realize the importance of detail and quality in every stage of production," said one student. Meanwhile, another student added that this experience motivated them to be more creative and innovative in planning their careers in science and entrepreneurship. The industrial visit to Bandeng Juwana Elrina not only enhanced the students' technical knowledge but also inspired them to be bold in innovation and to develop their potential in the industrial world. With the experience gained, it is hoped that students can apply the knowledge they have learned on campus to real-world practice, bringing benefits to the industry's development in the future.
