Science Education Student of UNY Contributes to PKM-PM DigiCODE Program in “Kali Resik Rejeki Apik” River Clean-Up Action

Yogyakarta, September 19, 2025 – The PKM-PM DigiCODE team from Yogyakarta State University (UNY), represented among others by Nadia Dwi Aprillia Putri Hariadi, a Science Education student, took part in the River Clean-Up and Fish Restocking activity titled “Kali Resik Rejeki Apik”. The event was organized by the Serayu Opak River Basin Authority (BBWSSO) on Friday (19/9/2025) at Mergangsan Dam, Yogyakarta City. The activity was attended by more than 150 participants from government institutions, communities, local residents, and academia. The Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X, personally joined the event by restocking fish into the river and participating in the clean-up movement.

In his remarks, Sri Sultan emphasized the importance of preserving rivers as a manifestation of the Javanese philosophy Hamemayu Hayuning Bawana. He also called on the community, especially those living along the riverbanks, to take active roles in maintaining river cleanliness. “If we do not take care of the environment, then the environment will repay us with natural disasters,” he asserted. On this occasion, the UNY PKM-PM DigiCODE team introduced its flagship program, DigiCODE – Digitalization of the Code River School, to the Governor and other officials. The program received positive responses and appreciation, which became an added motivation for the team to successfully complete the project and provide meaningful contributions to the riverside community. The event concluded with a communal meal, symbolizing the spirit of togetherness in protecting rivers as a source of life. With collaboration among government, academia, communities, and local residents, it is hoped that urban rivers in Yogyakarta will become cleaner, greener, and more sustainable public spaces, reinforcing the city’s cultural identity.
