UNY Science Education Department Strengthens Global Science Learning at Sekolah Indonesia Kuala Lumpur

The Department of Science Education, FMIPA UNY, conducted an International Community Service Program in collaboration with Sekolah Indonesia Kuala Lumpur (SIKL), Malaysia, on Thursday, July 24, 2025. The event began at 10:00 local time and was attended by 40 participants consisting of junior high school teachers and students. The program opened with a formal ceremony and the signing of a cooperation agreement between UNY and SIKL. This was followed by teacher development sessions and a hands-on science fun learning activity with students. Several key topics were presented by the UNY Science Education team:
- Strengthening TPACK-P for Overseas Indonesian School Teachers to Improve Science Literacy by Prof. Dr. Insih Wilujeng, Susilowati, Desy Purwasih, Laily R. Listiyani, Sofyan D. Nugroho, and Marinda N.F. Putri.
- Optimizing Indonesia’s Local Potential in Learning to Strengthen National Identity by Purwanti Widhy Hastuti, Isti Yunita, Ir. Ekosari Roektiningrum, Shafa Alfinafisa, Zharifah E. Nikmah, and Afia S. Isnaini.
- Developing Teaching Materials Based on Cognitive Load Theory by Prof. Zuhdan K. Prasetyo, Dr. Ismail Fikri, and Putri Anjarsari.
- Waste-Free School (SAS) through Curricular and Co-Curricular Science Teaching by Prof. Dadan Rosana, Dr. Winarto, Dr. Widowati P., Widodo S. Wibowo, Yoga A. Pratama, Kanaya P. Roslina, and Muhammad N. Mustajib.
- Workshop on Optimizing Assessment as Learning and Assessment Pyramid Reconfiguration by Didik Setyawarno, Dr. Maryati, and Dita P. Rahayu.
This international collaboration reflects UNY’s commitment to enhancing global science education while embedding local cultural identity in overseas Indonesian schools.
