Yogyakarta, August 6, 2025 – A total of 30 students from SMA Al Azhar 34 Yogyakarta, accompanied by 6 teachers, participated in a laboratory visit to the Basic Physics Laboratory at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Yogyakarta State University (UNY). This activity aimed to introduce various science practicum tools and provide students with hands-on experience in conducting scientific experiments, particularly in the field of physics. The visit began with participant coordination, followed by the opening ceremony and a warm welcome from the Head of the Basic Physics Laboratory at FMIPA UNY, Dr. Rita Prasetyowati, M.Si. In her speech, she emphasized the importance of hands-on science learning so that students not only understand theoretical concepts but also observe and analyze real scientific phenomena. She also expressed gratitude to SMA Al Azhar 34 Yogyakarta for entrusting their students to learn in this environment. The next speech was delivered by a representative of SMA Al Azhar 34 Yogyakarta, Miftahus Sa’adah Maulidiyah, S.Psi., who expressed appreciation for the opportunity to establish partnerships and share the valuable learning facilities provided by FMIPA UNY.

- Department of Physics Education, UNY and SMA Al Azhar 34 Yogyakarta
- FMIPA UNY and SMA Al Azhar 34 Yogyakarta
The agreements were signed on behalf of SMA Al Azhar 34 Yogyakarta by Indah Dhamayanti, M.Si., M.Pd. This signing marks the beginning of a strategic collaboration in developing practicum-based science learning. After a prayer recitation, the event continued with interactive practicums covering three main topics:
- Electromotive Force (EMF) and Electromagnetic Induction
- Optical Properties of Lenses and Mirrors
- Biophysics: Fluid Flow in Blood Transfusions or IV Infusions
The practicum was guided by a team of lecturers: Didik Setyawarno, S.Pd.Si., M.Pd., Yuli Arti, M.Pd., and Pramudya Wahyu Pradana, M.Pd., supported by professional laboratory staff, Ahmad Nashrullah, S.T., and Galuh Titisari, M.Pd. Additionally, students from FMIPA UNY participated as laboratory assistants: Alfianti Hasanah, Iftitah Alya Fadharis, Zunita Dwi Anggraini, Rahma Nabila Fatin, Alya Dwiyussa Herdiyani, and Azkiya Zakhrofa. Their presence fostered inter-level educational interaction and exemplified the active role of university students in science education. The practicum sessions proceeded smoothly with great enthusiasm and interactivity. The participants were eager to observe, discuss, and ask questions throughout the activities. Through this initiative, students were expected to gain new insights, practical experience, and inspiration to further explore the world of science, particularly in the field of natural sciences. The collaboration between FMIPA UNY and SMA Al Azhar 34 Yogyakarta is expected to continue and serve as a strategic bridge to strengthen science education at the secondary school level.
