The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), welcomed a laboratory practicum visit from SMP IT An-Nur Cikarang Timur, Bekasi, as part of science learning activities conducted at the FMIPA UNY Science Laboratory in early February 2026. The activity aimed to strengthen practice-based science learning experiences for junior high school students. The activity was officially opened by the Vice Dean for Research, Cooperation, Information Systems, and Business Affairs of FMIPA UNY, Prof. Dr. Tien Aminatun, S.Si., M.Si., accompanied by the Head of the Science Education Department, Prof. Dr. Insih Wilujeng, M.Pd. The opening remarks highlighted the importance of experiment-based science learning to foster curiosity, scientific thinking skills, and contextual learning experiences for students.

In addition to the practicum activities, the event also included the signing of an Implementation Agreement (IA) and Cooperation Agreement (PKS) between FMIPA UNY and SMP IT An-Nur. This collaboration aims to strengthen partnerships in education, particularly in developing laboratory-based science learning programs. The practicum sessions were facilitated by Science Education lecturers, namely Dr. Didik Setyawarno, S.Pd.Si., M.Pd., Dr. Ismail Fikri Natadiwijaya, S.Si., M.Pd., and Widodo Setiyo Wibowo, S.Pd.Si., M.Pd. The activity was also supported by ten Science Education students who served as laboratory assistants, helping participants conduct experiments and operate laboratory equipment. Through this activity, students gained hands-on experience in conducting science experiments in a university laboratory environment while also getting to know the academic atmosphere of FMIPA UNY. This program is expected to increase students’ interest in science and motivate them to pursue higher education, particularly in science and science education fields.
