A warm and enthusiastic atmosphere filled the "Department Talk" session of the Science Education Undergraduate Program (S1) at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY). This session was part of the official Orientation Program for New Students (PKKMB). All 2025 cohort students of Science Education attended the event, accompanied by the department leadership: Prof. Dr. Insih Wilujeng, M.Pd. (Head of Department), Didik Setyawarno, M.Pd. (Department Secretary), and Purwanti Widhy Hastuti, M.Pd. (Head of Undergraduate Program). The session was moderated by Naufal Nadzif Kafalik, the 2025 Chair of HIMA IPA, who kept the discussion engaging and informative.

Prof. Insih delivered an overview of the department’s history, its organizational structure, official social media platforms, active research groups, and key scientific journals managed by the department, such as the Journal of Science Education Research and TPACK IPA Journal. Mrs. Widhy added insights on the academic curriculum, student advising systems, course registration (KRS), and the opportunity for academic credit equivalence from student achievements such as PKM, PPK Ormawa, and P2MW. She emphasized the importance of on-time graduation and academic progress monitoring. Mr. Didik also elaborated on the teaching and learning mechanisms at the undergraduate level, explaining the evaluation processes and classroom management system. This department talk served as a solid starting point for new students to better understand the academic structure, scientific culture, and collaborative learning ecosystem of the Science Education Program at UNY.
