HIMA IPA FMIPA UNY Activity News: Successful Organization of Business Case Competition 2024

Yogyakarta, June 2, 2024 - The Association of Natural Sciences Education Students (HIMA IPA) has successfully organized the 2024 Business Case Competition (BCC). This event, which is one of the entrepreneurship division's work programs, carried the theme "Uncovering Business Strategies to Develop Creativity and Critical Thinking of Indonesia's Young Generation." The competition aimed to foster an entrepreneurial spirit, critical thinking, and creativity among students across Indonesia, especially those in the Natural Sciences Education program. The BCC 2024 was conducted online on Sunday, June 2, 2024. The competition attracted 41 teams from various parts of Indonesia, including teams from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), Universitas Brawijaya, Universitas Singaperbangsa Karawang, Universitas Negeri Medan, Universitas Negeri Surabaya, UIN Walisongo Semarang, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto, and various other universities and institutes such as Institut Teknologi Bandung, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, and Institut Teknologi Medan.

The registration for BCC 2024 was opened in two waves: the first wave was from April 2 to April 26 with a registration fee of IDR 30,000.00, and the second wave was from April 27 to May 3 with a registration fee of IDR 35,000.00. Teams from the UNY Natural Sciences Education program enjoyed the benefit of free registration. The competition consisted of two stages: the preliminary stage and the final stage. In the preliminary stage, participants were given a business case from the company PT. Bakpia Juwara Satoe and tasked with creating a solution in the form of a paper. The top ten teams with the highest paper scores advanced to the final stage. In the final stage, participants presented their solutions and participated in a Q&A session, conducted via Zoom Meeting on June 2, 2024.

After a rigorous selection process, the winners of BCC 2024 were announced as follows:

  • 1st Place: Team led by Aryha Ghazi Qithamaraya
  • 2nd Place: Team led by Adinda Diana Azzahra
  • 3rd Place: Team led by Wiwit Lanjar Pangesti
  • 1st Honorable Mention: Team led by Timotius Abian Aribowo
  • 2nd Honorable Mention: Team led by Novita Silviana Sifiyani

This event is expected to be held annually, considering the significant benefits it provides to aspiring entrepreneurs in solving potential business problems in the future. The BCC serves as an excellent platform to hone the creativity and critical thinking of Indonesia's young generation.
