Optimizing the Competence of Science Teachers in Muhammadiyah Junior High Schools in Sleman Regency with the TPACK Framework Based on Local Potentials

The Department of Science Education FMIPA UNY again held a community service activity with the theme “Optimizing the Competence of Science Teachers at Muhammadiyah Junior High Schools in Sleman Regency in Designing Science Learning with the TPACK Framework based on Local Potential”. This activity was held at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Depok Sleman and attended by 30 science teachers from various Muhammadiyah junior high schools in Sleman Regency. The event was opened by the Head of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Depok Sleman, who in his speech conveyed the importance of increasing teacher competence in designing innovative learning that is relevant to local potential. Also present at this event was the Head of Cooperation Division (BKS) from PDM Sleman who fully supported this activity. The service team from UNY was represented by Prof. Dr. Insih Wilujeng, M.Pd. In her speech, she emphasized the importance of integrating local potential in science learning to improve the quality of education and the relevance of teaching materials to everyday life.
The first material was delivered by Dr. Asri Widowati, S.Pd.Si., M.Pd. who thoroughly discussed the basic concepts of local potential and the importance of its introduction in science learning. The material was continued by Desy Purwasih, M.Pd. who explained how to prepare local potential integrated science LKPD, providing practical and applicable insights to teachers. The third session was filled by Purwanti Widhy Hastuti, M.Pd. who explained about Instructional Design based on TPACK (Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge), a framework that integrates technology, pedagogy, and content in learning. Finally, Rizki Arumning Tyas, M.Pd. presented material on the development of teaching modules assisted by generator modules, a technology that can facilitate the preparation of teaching materials efficiently and effectively. The participants seemed enthusiastic in following each material session, as seen from various questions and active discussions. Hopefully, this activity can improve the competence of science teachers in Sleman Regency, so that they can create more interesting and meaningful learning for students.
