Partnership Development between UNY's Department of Science Education and FMIPA Universitas Brawijaya

The Department of Science Education at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) conducted a partnership development visit to the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Universitas Brawijaya (UB) on Monday, July 8, 2024. The visit, which took place from 09:00 to 11:00, was held at the MIPA Center on the 7th floor of Universitas Brawijaya and attended by several officials and lecturers from both universities. The delegation from the Department of Science Education UNY, consisting of Dr. Sabar Nurohman, Purwanti Widhy Hastuti, and Rizki Arumning Tyas, was warmly welcomed by the Vice Dean 2, Vice Dean 3, Heads of the Departments of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, as well as educational staff lecturers at FMIPA UB. This visit was initiated to establish a closer partnership between the two faculties, especially since there is no existing Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between FMIPA UNY and FMIPA UB.

During the visit, the UNY delegation had the opportunity to learn about best practices in academic and student affairs management at Universitas Brawijaya. One of the topics discussed was the management of student activities, such as the ONMIPA school and SATRIA DATA school, which aim to prepare students for these two competitions. UB provided valuable information and experiences regarding the management of these activities. Additionally, the visit aimed to initiate cooperation in the form of guest lecturer exchanges (guest lectures) and joint curriculum development. This collaboration is expected to enhance the quality of education and learning experiences for students from both universities. The Vice Dean 3 of FMIPA UB stated that they are very open to continuing this partnership and will reciprocate the visit to FMIPA UNY in the near future. This visit is an important first step in strengthening the relationship between FMIPA UNY and FMIPA UB. Both faculties agreed to maintain communication and collaborate on various programs beneficial to both parties. Through this partnership, it is hoped that a positive synergy in academic and student affairs will be created, improving the quality of education at both universities.
