Research Group for Evaluation of Science Learning UNY Holds PISA 2025 Workshop for Science Teachers in Bantul

Bantul, July 9, 2025 - The Research Group (RG) of Science Learning Evaluation of Yogyakarta State University (UNY) held a workshop entitled “Strengthening the Competence of Science Teachers through Understanding the PISA 2025 Framework” for junior high school science teachers in Bantul Regency. This activity was held at SMP Negeri 5 Banguntapan on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, by presenting Dr. Widowati Pusporini, M.Pd., as the main speaker. The RG team included: Prof. Dr. Dadan Rosana, M.Si, Dr. Maryati, M.Si, Didik Setyawarno, M.Pd, and Dr. Widowati Pusporini, M.Pd.  This workshop aims to strengthen science teachers' understanding of the PISA (Program for International Student Assessment) 2025 assessment framework, especially in building students' science literacy. In her presentation, Dr. Widowati emphasized the importance of a contextual approach in learning science, with a focus on scientific thinking skills, evidence-based reasoning, and the connection of science to everyday life.

“PISA does not merely test the memorization of concepts, but how students use science knowledge to interpret real-world phenomena critically and reflectively,” explained Dr. Widowati in the discussion session.

This activity is part of UNY's efforts to support the professional development of science teachers in schools, through the dissemination of the latest insights on assessment and science literacy-based learning. The participants seemed enthusiastic in participating in the activities, starting from the material presentation session, group discussion, and the learning process.
