On August 20, 2024, representatives of Lecturers from the Department of Science Education, Yogyakarta State University (UNY), namely Dr. Winarto, Rizki Arumning Tyas, and Widodo Setiyo Wibowo, visited the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI). This visit was received by the Manager of Cooperation, Ventures, and Alumni Relations, Dr. Lukmanda Evan Lubis, along with the Heads of Departments and Heads of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology Study Programs.
The purpose of this visit was to benchmark laboratory management, considering that FMIPA UI has very advanced laboratory facilities. One real proof is the UI Biology Department which is equipped with a laboratory from Merck, an official laboratory facility with sophisticated equipment and a very modern laboratory atmosphere.
In addition to visiting the laboratory, the team from UNY also had the opportunity to tour various lecture buildings at FMIPA UI. This visit provided broad insight into laboratory management, student activity management, and cooperation management strategies at UI, which are expected to be an inspiration in improving the quality of management at UNY. With this visit, it is hoped that there will be opportunities for closer cooperation between UNY and UI, as well as improving the quality of education at UNY through better laboratory and student management.
