Lecturer representatives from the Department of Science Education, Yogyakarta State University (UNY), namely Dr. Winarto, Rizki Arumning Tyas, and Widodo Setiyo Wibowo, conducted a partnership development visit to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Jakarta on Wednesday, August 21, 2024. The group was warmly welcomed in the Meeting Room on the 3rd Floor of Building A BMKG by a number of important leaders, including the Acting Head of the General and HR Bureau, Acting Head of the Public Meteorology Center, Head of the Climate Change Information Center, Head of the Earthquake and Tsunami Center, and Head of the Education and Training Center.
This visit aims to discuss the strategic cooperation plan between BMKG and UNY, especially in the field of Science Education. Various important programs were initiated through this discussion, including human resource capacity development through workshops, improving lecturer competency through collaboration with BMKG, collaboration in community service, further studies for BMKG staff at UNY, and dissemination of information related to meteorology and geophysics. As an initial step in strengthening the partnership between BMKG and UNY, the two institutions will draft a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which will be signed by the Head of BMKG and the Chancellor of UNY. This MoU is expected to be a strong foundation for the implementation of various programs that can provide broad benefits for both parties.
