Department of Science Education FMIPA UNY Conducts Workshop on Strengthening Science Teachers' Competencies through the PISA 2025 Framework and Digital Technology

The Department of Science Education, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), in collaboration with the Science Teachers Association (MGMP IPA) of Sleman Regency, organized a Science Teacher Competency Enhancement Workshop entitled New PISA 2025 Framework and Digital Technology in Science Education on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at SMP Negeri 4 Pakem, Sleman. The workshop was attended by 57 junior secondary science teachers from MGMP IPA Sleman and aimed to strengthen teachers' professional competencies in designing science instruction and assessment aligned with the PISA 2025 Framework while integrating digital technology into science education. The event began with the Indonesian national anthem, followed by welcoming remarks from the organizing committee, the Chair of MGMP IPA Sleman, and the Principal of SMP Negeri 4 Pakem, Mrs. C. Cahayaningsih, M.Pd. The speakers emphasized the importance of collaboration between universities and schools in improving the quality of science education to meet 21st-century educational challenges.
The workshop featured lecturers from the Department of Science Education FMIPA UNY as keynote speakers. The first session was delivered by Dr. Didik Setyawarno, who discussed the New PISA 2025 Framework as the Foundation for Science Teaching and Assessment, highlighting its implications for scientific literacy, reasoning skills, and contextual problem-solving. The second session was presented by Dr. Rizki Arumning Tyas, focusing on Online Science Learning Resources. Participants explored various digital learning platforms that support contextual and interactive science learning, including the Learn4Science platform, which provides teaching modules, learning materials, student activities, references, and ethnoscience-based local content.
The third session was delivered by Widodo Setiyo Wibowo, M.Pd., who introduced Digital Media in Science Learning. The presentation highlighted innovative strategies for integrating digital media to enhance student engagement and improve science learning experiences. The workshop concluded with an interactive discussion and practical assignment in which participants developed contextual, interactive, and local culture-integrated digital science teaching materials as a follow-up to the training. Through this activity, the Department of Science Education FMIPA UNY expects to strengthen its collaboration with MGMP IPA Sleman while supporting teachers in implementing innovative, technology-enhanced, and future-oriented science education.
