Successful Workshop on Guidelines for Independent MBKM Implementation in Science Education

The Department of Science Education organized a Workshop on Guidelines for Supporting the Implementation of Independent MBKM (Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka) Strengthening in Science Education on Friday, July 5, 2024, at Meeting Room 2, FMIPA UNY. The event, which took place from 07:30 to 15:00, was opened by Prof. Dr. Dadan Rosana and attended by the dean and vice deans, lecturers from the Science Education Department, and 50 students participating in the MBKM Flagship program in Science Education. The workshop featured Prof. Tjitjik Srie Tjahjandarie, Ph.D., the Acting Secretary of the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology, as the main speaker. She presented material on MBKM policies to enhance the quality of higher education graduates. In her presentation, Prof. Tjitjik emphasized the importance of MBKM in creating competent graduates ready to compete in the workforce.
In addition to Prof. Tjitjik, the workshop also featured supporting speakers Arif Widiyatmoko, Ph.D., Prasetyo Listiaji, M.Sc., and Dr. Andhina Putri Heriyanti from FMIPA UNNES. They shared their experiences and best practices in implementing Independent MBKM at UNNES, such as independent internship programs, independent student exchange programs, and independent entrepreneurship programs known at UNNES as LANTIP, PRIGEL, and other programs. One of the outcomes of the workshop was the drafting of Guidelines for Independent MBKM in Science Education at UNY. Prof. Dr. Insih Wilujeng, Head of the Science Education Department, emphasized that the workshop results provided several interesting points that must be followed up. She added that the feedback from the workshop should be communicated to the MBKM managers at the university level through the faculty, including the independent MBKM program scheme funded by the university or faculty. Prof. Dr. Zuhdan Kun Prasetyo, a senior lecturer in Science Education, stressed the importance of designing activities that align with the eight indicators set by MBKM for Science Education, as outlined by Prof. Tjitjik.
