All lecturers of the Science Education Study Program, FMIPA, Yogyakarta State University (UNY) participated in In House Training training and certification as part of the competency development efforts in the Independent Campus Competition Program (PKKM). This activity is designed to strengthen the capacity and expertise of lecturers in facing learning challenges in the digital era, while preparing them to manage technology-based learning. This training is held every Wednesday to Friday from 13.00-16.00 at FMIPA UNY, with participating lecturers having the freedom to choose topics that suit their needs and interests.
There are several training topics offered, including Utilization of Learning Management System (LMS) for Digital Learning Management, Development of Augmented Reality (AR) Learning Media, Development of Virtual Reality (VR) Learning Media, and Development of Digital Educational Videos (Advance). Some of the lecturers who attended this training were Putri Anjarsari, Insih W, and Ismail Fikri N for LMS, Didik S and Purwanti W for AR, Tyas and Dita for VR, and Sabar N, Laifa Rahmawati, and Winarto for educational videography.
This training is very important because it supports lecturers in developing skills in the field of technology which is increasingly crucial in today's education world. Competence in utilizing LMS, for example, allows lecturers to manage digital classes more effectively, providing students with easy access to lecture materials, assignments, and discussions. Meanwhile, the ability to develop AR and VR-based learning media can create a more immersive and engaging learning experience for students, helping them understand science concepts in a more visual and interactive way.
In addition, educational digital video development training provides lecturers with the skills they need to produce high-quality video content. This is becoming increasingly important in the post-COVID-19 pandemic era, where distance and digital-based learning are increasingly becoming a necessity. With this ability, lecturers can create materials that are more interesting and easy for students to understand, and deliver learning flexibly and creatively.
Through this training, it is hoped that lecturers of Science Education FMIPA UNY can be better prepared to integrate technology in learning, improve the quality of teaching, and create a more effective learning experience for students. This program is also in line with the vision of Kampus Merdeka, which emphasizes the development of lecturer competencies to be ready to face the challenges of education in the digital era and the 21st century.
