Batik: A World Cultural Heritage that Inspires Innovation at CV Astoetik

Batik, as one of Indonesia's local wisdoms, has been recognized by UNESCO as a World Intangible Cultural Heritage. Especially in Java, batik is not only a cultural heritage that must be preserved, but has also become an important commodity in the fashion industry and the growing lifestyle of the people. Seeing this phenomenon, CV Astoetik has been present as a batik equipment manufacturer since 2014. The company was established with the aim of providing innovative solutions to improve the quality of the batik process, which so far still uses traditional equipment that has not been widely developed. CV Astoetik focuses on developing environmentally friendly canting equipment and electric stoves. Their products have obtained SNI (Indonesian National Standard) and TKDN (Domestic Component Level) certifications, thus providing quality and safety assurance for buyers.

On Monday, June 24, 2024, the Science Education Department, represented by Dr. Winarto, M.Pd., collaborated with CV Astoetik in order to improve the quality of graduates. This collaboration is in line with the Independent Campus policy and is one of the main performance indicators of higher education, namely the increasing number of collaborations with partners. CV Astoetik and the Department of Science Education FMIPA UNY are committed to working together in the fields of research, service, and education. One of the agreed cooperation plans is a teaching practitioner program, where CV Astoetik will give lectures on culture-based industrial science courses. This collaboration is expected to provide great benefits for both parties, especially in producing graduates who have high competence and are ready to face challenges in the industrial world, especially in the field of batik. With the innovation from CV Astoetik, the batik process is expected to be more efficient and environmentally friendly, so that this cultural heritage can continue to be preserved and develop along with the times.
