Literacy and Scout Collaboration, UNY Mengajar Program Increases Reading Interest of SMPN 2 Muntilan Students
Primary tabs
Nadya Nurmarinda Putri and Hasna Diyaning Fiyandita, 7th semester students of Science Education Study Program, FMIPA UNY, actively participate in the UNY Mengajar program implemented at SMP Negeri 2 Muntilan. One of the innovative work programs they developed is Library Adventure, which integrates literacy activities with Scout Extracurricular.
The Library Adventure program aims to increase reading interest of grade VII students in a fun way. In this activity, students visit the Magelang Regency Regional Library during the Scout Extracurricular schedule. They are invited to explore the collection of books that suit their respective interests, then read and write summaries on the review sheets provided.
"This activity invites students to not only read, but also trains them to understand and convey the contents of the reading," said Nadya Nurmarinda Putri.
In addition to training reading and analysis skills, this program is expected to maximize the use of the Magelang Regency Regional Library facilities as additional learning resources. This activity also strengthens the synergy between formal learning in schools and extracurricular activities.
With programs such as Library Adventure, the UNY Mengajar team is committed to creating memorable learning experiences for students while instilling a sustainable reading culture.
